Bank Swallow
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with either (a)
annual precipitation less than 303 mm and May minimum temperature
(hex. min.) of 3-7 C, or (b) annual precipitation of 303-431 mm and
more than 11% agricultural lands. Somewhat less likely to occur in
wetter areas (annual precipitation more than 431 mm), if more than
13% ponderosa pine mixed conifer forest (Northeast Oregon) or if the
largest cover type occupies less than 51% of a hexagon. The logistic
regression analysis showed positive or negative association with
agricultural lands, Douglas-fir - w. hemlock - red cedar forest, May
precipitation (hex. avg.), topographic variation, the extent of public
land, and-to a lesser degree-May maximum temperature (hex.
max.), June maximum temperature (hex. avg.), and the extent of public
land.
